November
November has come and gone and we are into December if you can believe it! The Kindergarten class was very busy this month learning all about bears. We focused on stories such as "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and "We're Goin' on a Bear Hunt." We had our teddy bear picnic last Friday as a wrap up to our unit. It was nice to see all the teddy bears and have students each get a chance to show and tell. Bears were on their best behaviors for the picnic in the afternoon. They had wonderful manners! Thank you to those parents who sent us picnic snacks.
November was also "Show What you Know" Kindergarten conferences. Thank you for taking the time to come celebrate your child's learning so far in Kindergarten. Students were able to show their parents many things such as how they print numbers, recognizing numerals and counting from 0-10, extending patterns, retelling the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, singing letter sounds through Jolly Phonics songs, reading sight words, inital sound recognition and matching, as well as sharing in their child's learning portfolio. It was a wonderful celebration of learning!
In December we will be doing an author study on Jan Brett, focusing on "Gingerbread Baby," "Gingerbread Girl", "Gingerbread Friends," as well as many others. We will focus on the spirit of giving and sharing. It's a short school month with lots of exciting things going on!
