The Kindergarten class sang "Jingle Bell Boogie" with the Grade 1s as well as participated in the singing of most of the other concert songs. Everyone looked great in their formal attire and did a wonderful job on their performance. Great job Kindergarten!

On December 3rd the Kindergarten class took a trip to Yorkton to explore the Western Development Museum. November
November has come and gone and we are into December if you can believe it! The Kindergarten class was very busy this month learning all about bears. We focused on stories such as "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and "We're Goin' on a Bear Hunt." We had our teddy bear picnic last Friday as a wrap up to our unit. It was nice to see all the teddy bears and have students each get a chance to show and tell. Bears were on their best behaviors for the picnic in the afternoon. They had wonderful manners! Thank you to those parents who sent us picnic snacks.
November was also "Show What you Know" Kindergarten conferences. Thank you for taking the time to come celebrate your child's learning so far in Kindergarten. Students were able to show their parents many things such as how they print numbers, recognizing numerals and counting from 0-10, extending patterns, retelling the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, singing letter sounds through Jolly Phonics songs, reading sight words, inital sound recognition and matching, as well as sharing in their child's learning portfolio. It was a wonderful celebration of learning!
In December we will be doing an author study on Jan Brett, focusing on "Gingerbread Baby," "Gingerbread Girl", "Gingerbread Friends," as well as many others. We will focus on the spirit of giving and sharing. It's a short school month with lots of exciting things going on!
Here are some pictures from November:

Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween! Yesterday the ghosts, goblins, princesses, and zombies came out to play in Kindergarten. We celebrated Halloween a day early by having a Halloween party full of delicious food and dancing. After recess the Kindergarten students hosted and performed in the October monthly assembly. They performed the chant "5 Little Pumpkins" and sang the song "The Haunted House." They did a wonderful job and I couldn't be more proud! Way to go Kindergarten!!!

Carving a Pumpkin!
We have been exploring pumpkins in Kindergarten. I brought a pumpkin to school that I had gotten from a farm near Yorkton. Students were very excited to see a real pumpkin in our classroom! This morning students were given a paper pumpkin to decorate with a face they would like to carve into our class pumpkin. During Centre Time I helped students clean out and carve the pumpkin. We took ideas from the pumpkins we had drew this morning. Some of the words students used while cleaning out the pumpkin were "Slimey", "Yucky", and "Slippery." We had lots of fun carving our classroom jack-o-lantern!
