Show What You Know Spring Conferences

Thank you to all the families who were able to join their children for our Kindergarten Show What You Know conferences. It was nice to meet with each of you and get the opportunity to talk about your child's progress thus far. I am very proud of their accomplishments and am looking forward to the successes they will achieve in Term 3.

Castles and Towers

Students have been very interested in building towers and castles during Centre Time. I am amazed by some of the creations they come up with. While I haven't captured all their amazing creations, here are a few..

Problem Solving

In Kindergarten we have been focusing on problem solving and making positive choices. Today in Character Education Mrs. U joined us to role play some positive peer behaviors. We then had students act out some of the scenarios while our SST, Mrs. Fleury video taped us. We worked on asking for a turn with a toy rather than just grabbing it from a peer, asking to knock over a tower rather than just doing so, and apologizing for bumping into someone/not getting mad if someone bumps into you accidentally. January and February have flown by! Even though we have had some very frigid weather and have been inside almost every recess we have kept warm and busy! In January we learned all about transportation. In February we have been learning about friendship and families. Students have really grown in their Math and Literacy skills! Here are some pictures of what we've been up to!

How We Feel...and ways to Deal!

In Character Education we have been discussing our emotions and how to deal with them. We had a school-wide bullying presentation called "No such thing as a Bully" that focused on standing up for yourself and ways to be a good friend to others. Mrs. Untershute, our school counselor will be coming in for the next few weeks during Character Education to talk to the class about strategies to deal with anger. The program is called Dino-School. We did our first lesson last week and put on a puppet show for the class. I was pleased to see that students were very engaged and have been putting on their own puppet shows during Center Time. I always know when a concept has sunk in when they start using it in their play!

Marvelous Magical Sleigh

December 11th was the evening of our school's Christmas Concert called "My Marvelous Magical Sleigh." The Kindergarten class sang "Jingle Bell Boogie" with the Grade 1s as well as participated in the singing of most of the other concert songs. Everyone looked great in their formal attire and did a wonderful job on their performance. Great job Kindergarten!

Museum Field Trip

On December 3rd the Kindergarten class took a trip to Yorkton to explore the Western Development Museum. We went on an old fashioned wagon ride, made candy cane decorations, explored the museum, and had a snack. We had a wonderful time! Thank you again to the parents who helped chaperone and make our trip a success! Check out our pictures from the trip!
